Getting Started With Your Emotional Life %%FIRST_NAME%%
Unfortunately, most people don’t have control of their emotions. It wasn’t long ago %%FIRST_NAME%% that I lost complete control of my emotions. It was due to my state of mind at the time.
Fortunately, we can control our state of mind throughout the day which will allow us to control our emotions. Part of how we control our state of mind during the day is to focus on the rituals we do throughout the day. All the little things we do, both consciously & unconsciously, that determine how we feel.
For example %%FIRST_NAME%%, if you love what you do to produce an income, then you have a very different set of rituals than someone who hates to got to work everyday. If you’re excited to start your day, you’re in a very different Emotional state of mind than someone who doesn’t want to get out of bed. The same is true if you’re happy with your Relationship, your Health & Fitness level, your Financial situation, and so forth.
This is where you need to take a deep, conscious look at your daily rituals which produce your Emotional state of mind. Just as we can trick our subconscious mind to work for us rather than against us, we can trick it to produce the Emotional state of mind that we desire, and will work for us too.
A lot of this has to do with what I call our “Inner Idiot” %%FIRST_NAME%%. We all have one, and many times we just need to tell it to “shut the #&%@# up!” It’s that inner voice that creates doubt for us and causes us to self-destruct. It goes beyond limiting beliefs, and includes a lot of the conversations we have with ourselves. Someone said; “the most important conversation you’ll ever have is the one with yourself” and it’s so very true.
We can change our Emotions by what we say to ourselves. Through our inner conversations, we can change our state of mind in order to change our Emotional state. You become those words that you tell yourself %%FIRST_NAME%% so you can train yourself to be encouraged or frustrated, excited or depressed, happy or sad, and so on. If you live in a state of frustration, you’re going to be frustrated, and the more you repeat this (and allow frustration to exist in your life) the stronger the feeling grows. Again, Emotions are like muscles that you can train and define.
I use to live in a state of depression %%FIRST_NAME%%. I was depressed every single day, all day long, and allowed it to stay – it became who I was as a person. Once I decided I wasn’t going to tolerate this anymore in my life, told my Inner Idiot to go “&%@#! himself!” and got back to my Abundance Blueprint – everything changed.
I changed the way I talked to myself to change my state of mind which changed my Emotional state. When you talk to yourself %%FIRST_NAME%%, whether it be affirmations / statements of fact, or anything else, you have to say it with conviction. It’s not just “positive thinking” or positive self-talk” – you have to say it with such belief and passion that it changes your state of mind. Do this %%FIRST_NAME%%, and your life will change too.
It’s much like Visualization. What you tell yourself on a repeated bases will become reality. One thing I did to get over my daily feelings of sadness and depression was a simple little exercise. It may sound a little silly, but just try it to see if it works for you too %%FIRST_NAME%%. You see, it’s impossible to feel sad and depressed if your overwhelmed with feelings of gratitude and gratefulness.
What I did was say “I love …” to just about everything in my day. I said it about hundreds of things – nothing was too small. When I woke up; “I love this bed!” When I got dressed; “I love this shirt!” and “I love these flip flops!” In the kitchen; “man, I love this coffee!” It doesn’t matter if the coffee was really good or not, or whether my flip flops were falling apart, and I needed a new pair. By “loving” everything you come in contact with, you’ll be in such a great mood, that it will take a lot to change it.
This doesn’t mean that you’ll never have a bad day or feel a negative Emotion – I still get depressed now and then, but I don’t stay depressed. If I start to have a bad day, I can quickly find out what’s causing it, get over it, and change my Emotional state in order to have a great day!
Now %%FIRST_NAME%%, these are the limiting Emotions that creep into our lives unwelcome to just plain mess with us. Part of our Emotional Life also consists of Emotions that are there to help us. We often call these a “gut feelings.” They can tell something is wrong such as fear or nervousness so that we can take action to get out of harms way. Anger, if justified, can be a signal that something has been done while joy, love, and happiness are all signals that we should keep doing what we’re doing.
These Emotions can save us at times because Emotions act so much faster than we can consciously act with our brain. Emotions can either be our best friend or our worst nightmare. The key is to recognize them, evaluate them, and then make them work for you under your control. They can be a wonderful tool that serves you, and guides you in the decisions you make in life.
It’s important to acknowledge and listen to our emotions, and not simply try to cover them up. For example, if I’m having a bad day and I’m angry about something – I don’t just start saying “I love everything” to get in a happy mood. I have to figure out what’s making me angry so I can change it. If I don’t, that angry emotion is going to continue to grow and get worse until I act on it, and get rid of the source.
Every emotion has a recipe. Gratitude & Gratefulness is a recipe for happiness and joy. If you want to feel relaxed & peaceful, you can create that Emotion with a recipe that might include soft music, a lit candle, sitting outside in nature, etc. Every emotion, both good and bad, has a recipe so you can almost call them into your life at will. It doesn’t mean you’re going to feel good 100% of the time, and it doesn’t mean you won’t experience some emotions that take time to overcome such as the loss of a loved one, but the point is %%FIRST_NAME%% – with the exception of a serious trauma, you can control your Emotions on a daily basis. You can think and do the things that make you happy, and avoid the things that make you sad or stressed.
