Empowerment

Replace Any Negative Statements With Empowering Ones

Many of these negative statement will be uncovered when you look at your core beliefs about each of your life categories, but don’t forget about the “positive” ones that are hiding.  These are positive statements %%FIRST_NAME%%, but they still focus on what you don’t want instead of what you do want in your life.

Statements that you never want to be telling yourself are fairly obvious (even though so many people do it to themselves everyday) such as:  “This job is killing me”.  “That’s the way it’s always been” or “That’s how we’ve always done it”.  “You can’t have it all”.  Of course you can have it all – that’s what the Book of Life is all about – having abundance in every category of your life … having it all %%FIRST_NAME%%!

You need to have a positive, abundant vocabulary which starts with gratitude %%FIRST_NAME%%.  If you don’t like your job, and it’s stressing you out, instead of complaining about it, remind yourself how lucky you are to have a job, but at the same time – don’t settle for something that makes you unhappy.  You can say something like, “I’m grateful for being employed right now, but I’m meant to have my own business” or whatever fits your ideal vision.

Sometimes these negative statements which keep you down can be brought on by a bad experience in life.  This was true of myself.  The key here is to laugh at these negative situations.  Find humor in it no matter how bad it seems.  I won’t lie to you %%FIRST_NAME%%, this can be tough, but with a little practice it gets easier and makes a world of difference.  It could be something like cracking a joke about the situation or thinking how a month from now this will make for a really good story.  Dreaming of the most ridiculous job you can think about can ease the tension of being laid off until you find an even better job in the future.

Focus on the good things about an experience, however small or unimportant it may seem.  We all encounter obstacles throughout the day – there’s generally no escaping it.   I’ll give you an example %%FIRST_NAME%%, we were taking out a group of divers and the captain told me the battery was dead and he needed to charge it for about 30 minutes.  I informed everyone of the situation and that they had some extra time to explore the island, get breakfast, or just chill out before we got underway.  Well, 5 minutes later our power goes out (which happens quite often on an island).  I called my wife, chartered a small boat, and took everyone to a nearby beach for a small BBQ.

Out of this negative situation %%FIRST_NAME%%, I was able to spend more time with my wife Kendi (everyone calls her “Dulce”) and really get to know the guests on a more personal level.  By the time we got back, power was back on, and the boat was ready to go.  We still got 1 dive in instead of 2.  Everyone had such a good time, that this became a “planned” day where we do just 1 dive in the morning, and then have a BBQ afterwards.  This became one of my preferred “Counter Punches” in my Business & Career – more about that later.

Always try to keep a conscious look out for negative talk %%FIRST_NAME%% which can creep up on you at any time.  Much of this negativity comes from the memory of a recent event or the exaggerated imagination of a potential future event.  Be aware of this so you can stop it in its tracks stay focused in the here and now instead of thinking about something that happened in the past.

Another way to help change negative statements into positive ones %%FIRST_NAME%% is to treat yourself as a friend.  At times, we can be our own worse enemy.  Sometimes we can say the most destructive statements to ourselves that we would dare say to friend.  In a negative situation, try to talk to yourself as you would a friend %%FIRST_NAME%%, and write those statements down in your Book of Life.

Don’t let your brain trick you %%FIRST_NAME%%.  You have complete control over your thinking and what you tell yourself, and your brain will believe whatever you tell it good or bad, right or wrong.  To start feeling empowered sooner than you can imagine, get rid of all the negative voices in your head, and replace them with positive statements.
